Rev. Alistair McCrae

 

 

Alistair is a Minister of the Uniting Church who currently serves as Executive Director of the Uniting Church Centre for Theology and Ministry. He is committed to building creative bridges between prayer and activism, religion and politics, respect for the individual and the importance of community.

 

He served as Moderator of the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania (2000-2003) and in 2009 will commence as President of the national Assembly of the Uniting Church.

 

(Since ordination 20 years ago he has served as a Minister in Mt Beauty, Portland and West Brunswick. He is on the Board of Wesley Mission Melbourne and Chairs its Social Policy Committee. He was an inaugural member of the State Governments Community Support Fund, is on the Advisory Committee of the Community Alcohol Action network of the Australian Drug Foundation. He served as Chairperson of the Uniting Church’s national Task Group on Sexuality for its five-year duration.)

 

He is committed to building creative bridges between prayer and activism, religion and politics, respect for the individual and the importance of community. He has degrees in Arts, Theology and Philosophy. He is a self-confessed ‘sports tragic’, and loves camping, bushwalking, renovating, cooking and hanging out with family and friends. Alistair is married to Clare, a writer, and they have four teenaged children living at home in West Brunswick.
